In general, a number of yarns are used for the formation of fabrics and also a number of techniques are used for producing fabrics such as weaving, knitting, and felting. The type of fabrics is different because of the fabric formation techniques, machinery used for producing them, and finishing techniques.
Each fabric has a unique name for it to be identified among others based on their textures, designs, weaving patterns, aesthetic values, fiber source, the place where the fabrics are originated, etc. we are here to show some of the fabrics, their uses and formation, etc. Below is the knowledge of them.
28. Fustian Fabric

Woven Fabric
The fustian is a kind of heavyweight fabric made of linen warp and cotton wefts or fillings. The Fustian fabrics are used for menswear normally. The word “Fustian” is used to denote heavy fabrics in the past.

The gabardine is made of twill woven worsted or cotton fabric. This is produced by maintaining a higher twist on warp yarns compared to weft yarns resulting in a fine, prominent twill line. The fabric can be used in different designs like checks, plaid, stripes, heather, or solid color. Since the fabric is durable, gabardine is widely used in making pants, shirting and suiting.

The gauze is plain weave fabrics. It contains more spaces between the threads than normal fabric. It usually made of things like cotton, rayon or their blends. It is also used in home furnishing like curtains and is popular in medical uses for bandages.=

The Georgette is a name for sheer and strong silk or silk-like clothing fabric. It is a sheer lightweight fabric that provides utmost comfort. It is made of silk or polyester normally.

32. Gingham Fabric

Woven Fabric
The gingham is a medium-weight plain-woven fabric made of cotton blends or dyed cotton. The word “Gingham” came from the Malay word “Genggang” meaning “striped” and the fabrics are made with checks as the name.
33. Intarsia Knit Fabric

Knitted Fabric
The intarsia is patterned single knit fabric. It has colorful designs like blocks in different color backgrounds. The patterns look identical on both the face and backside of the fabric. There are no floats found on the backside of the fabric. It is used for blouses, sweaters and shirts.
