In general, a number of yarns are used for the formation of fabrics and also a number of techniques are used for producing fabrics such as weaving, knitting, and felting. The type of fabrics is different because of the fabric formation techniques, machinery used for producing them, and finishing techniques.

Each fabric has a unique name for it to be identified among others based on their textures, designs, weaving patterns, aesthetic values, fiber source, the place where the fabrics are originated, etc. we are here to show some of the fabrics, their uses and formation, etc. Below is the knowledge of them.

22.Double Knit Fabric

-1

Knitted Fabric
The double knit fabric is formed by the interlock stitches and its variations. Using two pairs of needles set at an angle to each other, and the fabric used to make double knits are polyester and wool. Double knits are weft knitted fabrics made with two sets of needle beds, which makes the fabric structure much more stable and compact. The fabrics do not have any curl at the edges.

23.Felt Fabric

-2

Specialty Fabric

The felt fabric is made of natural fibers like wool, which is being pressed and condensed together with heat and pressure. They are non-woven fabrics.

24.Fiberglass Fabric

-3

Specialty Fabric

Fiberglass is a kind of fabric including fine glass fibers and widely used in areas like yarns, insulators and structural objects.

25.Flannel Fabric

-4

Woven Fabric

The flannel fabric is plain or twill woven fabrics, and very soft and cozy. The softness comes from a technique employed by the mills called “double brushing”. It can be regarded as brushed fabric with soft fibers protruding on one or both the fabric surfaces. The flannel was made of wool at the beginning, but now it is made of cotton, wool or any other synthetic fiber. Flannel fabrics are ideal for bedspreads, suitings, jackets, shirting, and pajamas.

26.Flat or Jersey Knit Fabric

-5

Knitted Fabric

The flat or jersey knit fabrics have flat vertical lines on the front, and on its back, it has dominant horizontal ribs. The flat or jersey knit stitch is fast, inexpensive and easy to produce other kinds of fabrics. A major disadvantage of regular flat knits is their tendency to “run” if a yarn is broken.  It can make terry, velour, and plush fabrics by using different yarns or double-looped stitches of different lengths.

27.Foulard Fabric

-6

Woven Fabric

The foulard fabric is lightweight twill weave plain fabrics and soft finish which was being used to make silk or silk-blends. The fabric is often characterized by a small printed design of various colors.
