Types of jacquard fabrics
Technically, any fabric that uses a weaving process originally produced by weavers and weavers and then perfected by Joseph Marie Jacquard and those after him is jacquard. In addition to those fabrics that bear his name, many other familiar weaves are part of this glorious history. These include modern brocades, brocades, damask fabrics and tapestries. In fact, even our iconic matelassé fabrics are woven on jacquard looms.
Typically, you'll find these fabrics most commonly used in homewares and upholstery because of their thickness and texture. They also appear in the colourful and patterned fabrics that make up the sarees, as well as in textured and patterned coats and formal dresses.
