Why are jacquard fabrics viewed differently?
Jacquard is different from other woven fabrics for two reasons.
First - the complexity of the design. Before the invention of the jacquard loom, fine patterns were made by hand, requiring a lot of labor and time. Today, highly detailed patterns can be woven automatically in less time. The secret lies in controlling the warp. Jacquard looms create patterns by selecting and lifting warp yarns.
Second, the number of colors used. Modern technology makes it possible to produce complex designs with large or small repetitions in the desired color range. You can knit anything you like in just one or dozens of colors: geometric, flora and fauna, abstract shapes, complex graphics, etc.
Jacquard fabrics tend to have a raised surface, but sometimes the pattern is so delicate that you can barely feel it under your fingers. Silk jacquard is the perfect example.
