Common materials for Knit Sherpa include natural fibers (such as wool) and synthetic fibers (such as polyester fibers). Different material ratios will affect the various properties of Knit Sherpa:
Warmth
- High wool ratio: Wool is an excellent natural thermal fiber with many tiny air cavities inside, which can effectively prevent heat loss. When the wool ratio in Knit Sherpa is high, the thermal performance will be significantly improved. For example, Knit Sherpa with a wool content of more than 70% can provide good thermal insulation for the wearer in cold weather and is suitable for use in low temperature environments, such as in the winter outdoors in the north. Such a Knit Sherpa jacket with a high wool ratio can resist the cold.
- High polyester fiber ratio: The thermal insulation performance of polyester fiber itself is weaker than that of wool. If polyester fiber accounts for a large proportion in Knit Sherpa, the overall thermal insulation effect will decrease. However, polyester fiber can be processed by special processes, such as making it into hollow fiber, to increase its thermal insulation, but compared with the case of high wool ratio, the thermal insulation performance under the same conditions will still be slightly inferior.

Softness and comfort
- High wool ratio: Wool fiber is soft and elastic, and feels comfortable. Knit Sherpa with a high wool ratio will inherit these advantages, giving people a very soft and skin-friendly feeling, and it is also comfortable to wear next to the body. In addition, the natural characteristics of wool make the fabric have good breathability, allowing the skin to breathe, reducing the feeling of stuffiness and discomfort.
- High polyester fiber ratio: Polyester fiber is relatively stiff, and when it is in a high proportion in Knit Sherpa, the softness will decrease. Although polyester fiber can improve the feel after some special finishing, in general, Knit Sherpa with a high polyester fiber ratio is not as soft and comfortable as products with a high wool ratio. However, polyester fiber has a certain wrinkle resistance and has certain advantages in keeping clothes flat.

Durability and easy care
- High wool ratio: Although wool has a certain strength, it is relatively delicate. Knit Sherpa with a high wool ratio requires more careful care during washing and daily use. For example, wool tends to shrink when it comes into contact with water. When washing, you need to pay attention to the water temperature and washing method. It is generally recommended to wash it gently by hand or use a special wool detergent for machine washing. In addition, wool is easily eaten by insects, so you need to pay attention to insect-proof storage. However, if a high-quality wool Knit Sherpa is properly maintained, it can be used for a long time, and the wool will become softer over time.
- High polyester fiber ratio: Polyester fiber has high strength and wear resistance, so Knit Sherpa with a high polyester fiber ratio is usually more durable. It is not easy to deform or pilling, and it is more resistant to tossing during washing and daily wear. You can use conventional washing methods, and even machine wash and dry, which is more convenient to take care of. However, polyester fiber may age and harden after long-term use, affecting the wearing experience.

Appearance and texture
- High wool ratio: Knit Sherpa with a high wool ratio often has a natural, soft luster, and the fluff on its surface is more delicate and fluffy, giving people a high-end and warm texture. This texture can enhance the overall aesthetics of clothing and home furnishings, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
- High polyester fiber ratio: The luster of polyester fiber is relatively bright, and sometimes it looks a bit stiff. The surface fluff of Knit Sherpa with a high polyester fiber ratio may be relatively less delicate and fluffy, and the texture will be slightly inferior. However, through some special surface treatment processes, such as sanding and raising, its appearance and texture can be improved to a certain extent, making it closer to the effect of natural fibers.
