There are several stages in the production of finished denim fabrics:

cotton planting
The denim production process begins with the cultivation of cotton plants. As a protective measure, the plant develops a thick ball of fibers around its small black seeds as it grows, which can be collected and separated from the seeds to make fabric.

processed into yarn
Clean cotton fibers are combed and made into long, thin ropes. They are then spun into yarn using industrial machines. Throughout the process, various washes, dyes or treatments may be applied to alter the properties of the finished denim.
final production
Cotton yarn is produced and dyed before being woven into the signature warp denim style. This fabric is usually produced in bolt form and can be purchased by shipyards and formed into finished consumer products
