How is denim made?
By the time of the Industrial Revolution, machines had been developed to produce denim faster on electric looms. Indigo dye is now synthetically manufactured to reduce costs and make the material more accessible than ever.
Today, the process of making denim is as follows:
Step 1: The cotton is collected and put into the machine, where it is unwound and spun into a strong thread.
Step 2: Dip the thread several times in a bucket of synthetic indigo dye.
Step 3: The indigo threads are woven together by selvedge or warp and weft.
Step 4: The denim is then sanforized, which means it is stretched, heated and shrunk.
Step 5: The Denim is Ready to Ship to the Store!
