What is spun polyester?

Spun polyester is filament fiber that is softened through agitation and chemistry. It is much softer and absorbent (ad-sorbs) than filament. While spun polyester is long-lasting in wear-life, it has a softer hand, and can actually resemble cotton (without the lint).

What is spun yarn?

Spun Yarn. When two or more fibers are joined together by twisting to get a strong yarn, the process is called spinning. Spun yarn may be made up of a single type of fiber or it may be made twisting different fibers together. Blended yarn is a result of spinning together of different kinds of fibers such as cotton polyester or wool acrylic yarn.

How are spun polyester and cotton threads made?

Spun polyester threads are made by spinning or twisting together shorter lengths of polyester fibers. This is similar to the way cotton threads are made. These short fibers are then twisted together to produce a thread of the desired size. Spun polyester threads give the look of a cotton thread, but have more elasticity.
